Collecting water from creeks and rivers

If you wish to collect water from a particular waterway in the Moreton Bay or Sunshine Coast regions (such as a creek or river), you may need a licence. The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) website has all the information you need.

Alternatively, if you reside within the area south of the Mooloolah River to the Queensland / New South Wales border, you can contact the DERM Water Services Unit on (07) 3896 3308 or (07) 3227 7735.

If you live within the Mary Basin area (including the Mooloolah River and Maroochy catchments), all enquiries can be directed to the Gympie DERM Water Services Unit on (07) 5480 5316.
