Why do Moreton Bay property owners get a subsidy?

Moreton Bay Regional Council decided to allocate some of its return on investment in Unitywater to its ratepayers through a two-year subsidy. The subsidy aims to help reduce the impact of price increases on property owners in Moreton Bay area of Unitywater’s service region. The subsidy is applied directly to the property's Unitywater Account as a rebate.

In the first year (2010-2011), the subsidy was a 50% reduction on the difference in fixed water and sewerage access prices between 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. In this second year (2011-2012), the subsidy will be maintained at this same 50% level.

Use a bucket to catch water while the shower warms up. You can then reuse this water on your garden. If it takes 30 seconds for your shower to warm up, you could collect up to 10 litres of water for your garden.
