Development assessment

The establishment of Unitywater as the new water supply and sewerage service provider in the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions will not fundamentally change how the development process is managed in these areas.

Under the Queensland Government water reform agenda, interim development arrangements will apply for the next three years up to 1 July 2013. This is to ensure a smooth transition and minimum disruption for applicants, developers and the public generally.

These arrangements involve the delegation of responsibilities for water supply and sewerage development assessments from Unitywater to Council.

What this means for development applications

You will continue to lodge development applications with your local Council.

Application fees are also paid to the Council and not to Unitywater.

Unitywater will continue to provide the same services and advice previously provided by the Councils’ water businesses, Moreton Bay Water and Sunshine Coast Water.

Development enquiries

The Moreton Bay Regional and Sunshine Coast Councils' are the planning authorities for their respective areas. They also have responsibility for managing the overall development process.

Enquiries about new development proposals should continue to be directed to the relevant Council.

Moreton Bay Regional Council

Sunshine Coast Council

Particular water supply or sewerage enquiries relating to development applications in progress may be directed to Unitywater in the same way enquiries were previously directed to Moreton Bay Water or Sunshine Coast Water.
