Water efficiency management plan
A Water Efficiency Management Plan (WEMP) helps businesses manage their water use better. This, in turn, will reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Unitywater monitors water consumption and identifies businesses that have high water usage. If your business consumes more than 10 megalitres (ML) of water per year, the Queensland Water Commission requires you to produce a WEMP.
How does it work?
- Once your business has been identified as a high water user we will contact you.
- We will provide you with the WEMP template and one of our officers will be on hand to work through the documents with you.
- You will then be required to report on your progress each October. This information is then reported, without naming customers, to the Queensland Water Commission.
- We will review the WEMP with you every two years (approximately) to ensure you are on track and provide assistance where possible.
- Customers who remain users of more than 10 ML per annum will need to submit a new WEMP every five years.
WEMPs are managed by our Demand Management Team. They are always on hand to answer any queries you have or provide more information. Contact us for more information.
Irrigation Water Efficiency Management Plans
On non-residential premises, if the combined area of gardens and lawns to be irrigated exceeds 500m² and property owners want to use water from the reticulated (town) supply system for irrigation, they must submit an IWEMP. Before completeing the IWEMP, make sure you read the IWEMP overview.
Please contact us if you have any queries regarding the submission of IWEMPs.
