Inflow and infiltration are terms used to describe how rainwater and groundwater enter the sewerage network, in addition to the regular sewage discharged from bathrooms, sinks and toilets.
Inflow refers to rainwater entering via defective or inappropriate plumbing of stormwater to the sewerage network.
Infiltration refers to groundwater entering underground infrastructure via cracks and faulty joints.

Unitywater is rolling out an investigation program targeting priority areas where sewage overflows are most often experienced.We will notify property owners of any defects identified on their property and advise that these be repaired.Our crews will also work to identify and rectify any leaks and cracks in underground infrastructure.
Residents and property owners can do their part to ease the burden on our sewerage system by being aware of and fixing any defective or inappropriate connections. A licensed plumber should be used to rectify these faults.
