This years’ graduate intake sees a mix of civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineers undertake rotations throughout the business over 24 months to explore different areas across daily operations, major projects, environment and innovation at Unitywater.
Unitywater Executive Manager People Culture and Safety, Kenan Hibberd, said the 13th year of the program had received a large number of high-calibre applications.
“We’re excited to welcome another group of graduates to help contribute to Unitywater’s service delivery as we support our customers across Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and Noosa,” Mr Hibberd said.
“As a water and wastewater services provider, we apply just about every sort of engineering to our day-to-day operations, from environmental to mechanical,” he said.
“Unitywater offers diverse and long-term career and development opportunities beyond just engineering. We’ve seen a variety of talented individuals join the program over the years across areas including finance, technology, communication and more.”
Last year the utility welcomed Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) and Bachelor of Creative Writing graduate, Alli Hayden, to the program, where she spent her time learning and developing within the customer research, engagement and insights team.
“I’ve gained a wealth of practical experience and knowledge from my mentors and was provided ample opportunity for professional development. I felt very supported as a graduate to learn and ask questions,” Ms Hayden said.
“I’m proud to have been offered a permanent position as Customer Research Advisor within my first year with Unitywater, and it was not an opportunity I wanted to let pass by.
“I cannot recommend the program highly enough to those who have recently left university – it’s a fantastic way to kickstart your career and learn, grow your skills and discover different areas within your study area.”
