Unitywater is carrying out further works to a large water main in Bli Bli that broke on 5 January. It connects to four reservoirs which supply water to 8000 properties.

Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Delivery Rob Dowling said: “The initial repair was extremely complex but we completed it successfully.

“Following that, through investigations and monitoring, we have found that there are further issues with the condition of the water main.

“We are currently managing this as an emergency and once we are satisfied that the pipe can operate sufficiently, we will be completing a thorough investigation into what has caused the issues.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank residents for their continued patience and assistance in limiting their water use – it is greatly appreciated.”

Mr Dowling said water tankers were being used to supplement reservoirs and help ensure a continuous water supply to the affected areas.

Unitywater has also set up a bottled water collection point at Coolum State High School for affected residents to collect water for free.

Unitywater is providing updates on their Facebook and Twitter pages and website.
