Project summary

Unitywater is installing new sewerage infrastructure to meet future demand in a growing community. This important work will mean continued safe and reliable sewerage services for the Aura community.

The Aura Sewer Project will connect additional sewerage services to Caloundra’s Aura development. Aura has been the Sunshine Coast’s most rapidly growing residential and commercial area since 2005. By 2025, Aura will be home to more than 15,000 residents and a third of the region’s retail, commercial and industrial development.

To meet the needs of the growing population, Unitywater is undertaking this major infrastructure project to remove and treat Aura’s sewage.

 

  • The Aura Sewer Project will include installing a new sewer pump station and 14kms of new sewer pipe to transfer sewage to our Kawana Sewage Treatment Plant.
  • This major project is part of Unitywater’s regional investment to cater to the demands of population growth in an economical and environmentally sustainable way.
  • Construction is due to start in early 2023 and be completed in late 2024, weather and construction conditions permitting.
  • We will work closely with the local community and keep them informed of this project and any potential disruption.
