The program sees successful applicants undertake ‘rotations’ to explore different areas across the utility’s operations, major projects and environmental initiatives.

Unitywater Executive Manager People Safety and Governance, Kenan Hibberd, said six positions were on offer to begin in 2027.

“We have positions for two chemical engineers, a civil engineer, an electrical engineer, a science graduate and one in our data and analytics team,” he said.

“Next year will be our 14th year running this program and we’ve had 65 graduates join us over the years. We are proud to be a long-term local employer and a dedicated contributor to the workforce of the next generation.

“Our Graduate Program is just one of our career pathways that nurtures a future skilled and local workforce that can build their career in the water industry.”
Unitywater Customer Research Advisor Alli Hayden started in the Graduate Program in early 2025 after completing dual-degree, with a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) and Bachelor of Creative Writing, before soon securing her permanent position.

“I was very fortunate to find a field of work that both excites me and challenges me so early in my time at Unitywater,” she said.

“When the opportunity to join this team permanently arose, it was not an opportunity I wanted to let pass by.

“As a graduate, the opportunity to gain experience and learn from mentors who are experts in their field is invaluable. For anyone who has recently graduated university or is about to, I cannot recommend it enough.”
