Pride in Water, a national network for LGBTQIA+ people and their allies working in the water industry, is backed by the Water Services Association of Australia, the Water Industry Operations Association of Australia and the Australian Water Association.

Unitywater Chief Executive Officer, Anna Jackson, said Unitywater joined the national network to champion LGBTQIA+ inclusion and opportunities within Unitywater and across the broader water sector.

“Unitywater is a large employer in South East Queensland that brings together people from a wide range of backgrounds, creating a culture and environment that celebrates diversity of thought, skills and experience, where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and thrive,” Ms Jackson said.

“As a founding member of Pride in Water, we are giving LGBTQIA+ team members access to expert, confidential support and a strong sense of community,” she said.

“We are also creating additional opportunities for all team members and leaders to engage with events, training and resources that strengthen allyship and inclusive leadership capability.

“This reflects our commitment to building a workplace where diversity and inclusion are lived, not just stated.”

Pride in Water Lead, Zoé Kennedy, said she was thrilled to welcome Unitywater as the network’s newest member as it continues to actively champion inclusion in the industry.

“Pride in Water was created to improve the safety and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people and allies in today’s modern water sector,” Ms Kennedy said.

“We offer a range of support for organisations, including training sessions, events, resources tailored to our industry, regular meetings with employee networks to share knowledge, and sessions for leaders to enhance inclusive leadership skills,” she said.
