While practice makes perfect, it’s all for a good cause to encourage the community to stay hydrated with tap water while they enjoy the countdown.
Unitywater Executive Manager Strategic Engagement, Joshua Zugajev, said with this week’s high temperatures across the region, it was more important than ever to drink water.
“We’re encouraging our communities to remember to stay hydrated in the heat and enjoy the countdown responsibly by drinking tap water – no one wants a dehydration headache! Two to three litres per day is recommended.” he said.
“We’re lucky to have clean, safe and reliable drinking water at the turn of the tap in our region, and it’s cheaper too, with 1000 litres of tap water costing just 76 cents compared to $4 for a 600ml single-use plastic bottle from the shop.”
“Drinking tap water rather than bottled is also a better option to protect our environment – single-use plastic bottles can end up in our waterways and take up to 450 years to break down.”
Mr Zugajev said while Wanda was confident their moves would launch them into stardom, it was about sharing a serious public safety message.
“Wanda doing a social media dance is a little bit of fun but if it reminds people to stay hydrated and safe, then it’s served a really good purpose.”
