Unitywater Executive Manager Strategic Engagement, Joshua Zugajev, said the Drink Tap van provides fresh, clean tap water at local events to help the community refill their reusable water bottles for free.

“Our Drink Tap van now has a digital meter that tracks how much water is used at each event,” Mr Zugajev said.

“This means we can track how many single-use water bottles have been avoided – a great outcome for people’s wallets and the environment,” he said.
“According to Healthy Land and Water, more than seven million tonnes of rubbish end up in the ocean each year – 80 per cent of which is plastic. Choosing to fill up your reusable water bottle at the tap prevents more single-use plastic water bottles contributing to this figure.”

The Drink Tap van will be at community events across Unitywater’s service region in the coming months, including Pasifika Vibes Festival in Lawnton in May, the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show in June, the Redcliffe Kite Festival in September, Bribie Island’s Emergency Services Expo in October and Moreton Bay Eco-Fest in November.

“If you are heading to one of these popular community events, bring your reusable water bottle and fill up at the tap to help protect our environment and save money. For $4 you can get one litre of bottled water, or 1000 litres of tap water for the same price,” Mr Zugajev said.

“For over a decade, tour water vans have supplied drinking water to attendees at hundreds of community events, this included 40 events in 2024,” he said.

“We still have a few Drink Tap van dates available, so if you’d like to have the Drink Tap van at your community or sporting event, check out the criteria and apply now at www.unitywater.com/drinktapvan."
