Unitywater CEO, Anna Jackson, said Abergeldie would join other delivery partners Downer, Dormway and Elevate – a joint venture of Aurecon and AECOM – to support Unitywater deliver vital water and wastewater infrastructure for one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

“As our service region experiences unprecedented population growth and with the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, South East Queensland is entering the largest period of sustained infrastructure delivery in its history,” Ms Jackson said.

“With highly visible projects ramping up to deliver housing, public infrastructure and transport, there is a strong demand for skilled engineering and construction resources, so the expansion of our collaborative delivery partnership improves our ability to deliver our $2 billion capital investment program safely and on time, while improving confidence for our customers and stakeholders,” she said.

“Ultimately, our infrastructure exists to serve our customers and the collaborative delivery partnership model brings together the infrastructure owner, designers and contractors to streamline the project delivery process to deliver better cost, time and quality outcomes.”

Unitywater Executive Manager Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions, Mike Basterfield, said Abergeldie would start working with Unitywater and the collaborative delivery partners this month to support wastewater treatment plant upgrades in Kawana and Coolum.

“Abergeldie’s experience will complement Downer’s program of work across Unitywater’s portfolio of wastewater treatment plants and southern distribution networks, Dormway’s work on the northern distribution networks and Elevate’s front end engineering and design services,” Mr Basterfield said.

“The strength of the collaborative partnership model is its flexibility and collaborative culture and since inception in May 2024, we have commenced 147 infrastructure projects,” he said.

“We’ve recognised the opportunity to strengthen the model and our partners have embraced this opportunity to deliver the best possible infrastructure outcomes for our customers and community across Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and Noosa.”

“Abergeldie brings expertise in complex water infrastructure delivery and a strong understanding of Unitywater and our customers, working with us to deliver the Maroochydore Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade.”

Unitywater operates and maintains more than $4.3 billion worth of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure, serving over 900,000 residents across Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and Noosa – an area of approximately 5,223 square kilometres. The Queensland Government’s Shaping South east Queensland Plan forecasts our service region will welcome an additional 525,000 people and 215,600 new dwellings by 2046.
