The announcement coincided with International Women’s Day last week, when the water utility launched the second round of its gender equity and inclusion program and celebrated a significant milestone beyond closing its gender pay gap, achieving a 2.35% gap in favour of women in like-for-like roles.

This year, the utility has 50% representation of women on its board, 47% in leadership roles and 37% in full-time equivalent positions.

Unitywater Chief Executive Officer Anna Jackson said the achievement marked the organisation’s second year in a row on WORK180’s list.

“We’ve moved up significantly in the rankings from 96 last year to 52 this year, and it’s encouraging to see the work we’re doing in this space – to break down barriers, continuously evolve, and improve our collective understanding and allyship for women in our organisation – recognised in this way,” Ms Jackson said.

“As an advocate for gender equity and inclusion, I’m proud of the tangible initiatives we’ve put in place including industry-leading paid parental leave, flexible working options and our gender equity and inclusion program.”

Unitywater’s gender equity and inclusion program, ‘BOOST', brings women from diverse areas of the organisation together to participate in workshops, coaching and networking to further develop skills and tools to navigate workplace dynamics and accelerate career progression.

Ms Jackson said Unitywater’s priority was ensuring team members had equal opportunities to contribute to the future of the area.

“While we continue planning and delivering projects for one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, our team will continue to grow, and we’re committed to recruiting the right people for the right roles,” she said.
