Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Experience, Katherine Gee, said many of those related to customers moving, buying and selling houses, which reflected the unprecedented growth of the region.
“We’re always happy to hear from customers and help them with water and wastewater enquiries, but when you’re moving, buying or selling a house, you can cross contacting us off your moving checklist,” she said.
“Unlike power, water and wastewater services always remain connected, so when you move, they are simply transferred from the seller to the buyer as part of the settlement process through the Queensland Titles Office.”
Ms Gee said Unitywater’s customer service team also responded to 28,000 emails and welcomed customers face to face at its Maroochydore and Mango Hill-based customer service counters.
“Reporting suspected leaks is one of our most frequent calls,” she said.
“We appreciate members of the community who report suspected leaks, whether at your property, along a road or pathway, or near Unitywater infrastructure – these reports help our crews attend the site and carry out any required repairs faster.”
She said residents could also report leaks quickly and easily by filling out an online form on Unitywater’s website.
“These reports are monitored by our control room team 24/7,” she said.
Leak reports, followed closely by reports of ‘no water’ were one of the most frequent reasons customers contacted Unitywater.
“We’re committed to providing a safe and reliable water supply to homes and businesses across our service region but will occasionally need to turn off water to conduct planned repair works, and in some circumstances unplanned outages can impact this supply,” Ms Gee said.
“As soon as we’re made aware of a water supply interruption – whether it’s been identified by our control room or reported by a customer – we update this on our online outage map, where you can see the suburb or street affected and an expected restoration time.
“If your suburb is showing on the list and you’re experiencing a water supply interruption, you can be confident we already know about it and have a crew working to restore it as quickly and safely as possible.”
Unitywater’s customer contact centre operates from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday for account and general enquiries, while faults can be reported 24/7 on 1300 086 489.
Faults and leaks can be reported online.
