The awards recognise excellence across the utilities sector, celebrating organisations that are delivering outcomes in innovation, sustainability, customer service, project delivery and collaboration.
Unitywater CEO, Anna Jackson, said the award reflected the organisation's strong performance and focus on delivering for the customers of today and tomorrow.
"This is a fantastic achievement for our people and partners and recognition of the impact we are delivering for our customers, communities and region," Ms Jackson said.
"We are supporting safe, reliable and sustainable water and wastewater services across one of Australia's fastest-growing regions, while continuing to improve reliability, invest in critical infrastructure, advance sustainability initiatives and embrace innovation," she said.
Ms Jackson said Unitywater was always looking for new ways to create value for customers.
“Our Digital Metering Program is a great example of a future-focussed infrastructure project, helping customers save more than $6.2 million through early leak detection, while conserving more than one billion litres of water,” she said.
“And we are inviting new growers to connect to our Wamuran Irrigation Scheme, a climate-independent Class A recycled water scheme that supports food production in the region and drives circular economy outcomes.”
Independent benchmarking in the Bureau of Meteorology's National Performance Report 2024–25 had identified Unitywater as the best-performing major utility in Australia for water main breaks and sewer incidents, helping reduce service interruptions for customers.
“While it’s always pleasing to receive industry recognition, this award ultimately belongs to our people,” she said.
“Every day, our teams bring their great attitude to work in service of our customers to support healthy communities, a thriving environment and economy, and a sustainable future for our region.
“I’d also like to congratulate our industry colleagues at SA Water, Sydney Water, TasWater and Gladstone Area Water Board as fellow award winners.”
