Unitywater is implementing Eftsure verification
To strengthen the security of our payment processes and protect both Unitywater and our valued suppliers, we are introducing Eftsure, a leading Australian platform that independently verifies supplier banking and business information.
Eftsure helps ensure that payments are made safely to the correct accounts by independently validating key supplier details and monitoring for potential fraud or error before payments are processed.
Supplier information provided through the Eftsure verification process is handled securely and used solely for the purpose of validating payment details in accordance with Unitywater’s privacy obligations.
What is Eftsure?
Eftsure is an independent, real time verification platform that confirms the accuracy of supplier information, including:
- Bank account details
- ABN
- Trading name
- GST registration
- Business contact information
Eftsure provides ongoing monitoring and alerts to help organisations detect fraudulent or compromised payment details before funds are transferred.
Why Unitywater is introducing Eftsure
Cyber enabled payment fraud, including payment redirection scams and altered invoices, is an increasing risk across many Australian industries.
Eftsure helps protect against these risks by verifying supplier banking information and providing alerts during the procure to pay process.
This control strengthens payment security, supports financial governance and provides greater assurance around the integrity of supplier payments.
Many large Australian organisations including government agencies, universities and major corporations use Eftsure as part of their standard supplier onboarding and payment protection processes.
What suppliers need to do
As part of our new payment process, all suppliers must complete Eftsure verification before Unitywater can process payments.
You may receive:
- An email from Eftsure containing a Unitywater domain name, with a secure link to verify your details, or
- A phone call from the Eftsure verification team to confirm information if needed. Phone numbers that Eftsure utilise for outbound verification calls are listed on their website, within the Frequently Asked Questions section on the Eftsure supplier information webpage.
Eftsure will only verify business banking information required for payment processing, and will not request sensitive information. This verification process helps ensure Unitywater holds accurate payment details and protects both suppliers and Unitywater from payment fraud, cyber scams and processing errors.
If your organisation’s banking details change in the future, the verification process will need to be completed again before updated payments can be processed.
How to confirm the request is legitimate
To help you distinguish genuine Eftsure communication from scams:
- Emails from Eftsure will contain partially pre populated bank details, confirming that the request relates to your business.
- Eftsure uses bank grade encryption and multi factor authentication to secure your information.
- The secure link will contain a Unitywater domain name.
- Eftsure is widely used by reputable organisations across Australia, including corporates, universities, and government agencies.
If you are ever unsure, please contact Unitywater directly using the details below.
What happens if you don’t complete verification?
If verification is not completed, Unitywater may be unable to process your payments until the information is confirmed. This aligns with industry best practices for payment security and fraud prevention.
