Our 2025-26 Healthy and Thriving Community Grants recipients

Our community grants program empowers local organisations and community groups to deliver initiatives that protect, support and strengthen our local communities and environment.

We're proud to support the following three local organisations, making a real difference to protect and restore our region's natural environment:

Supporting turtle conservation with BIEPA

We're proud to partner with the Bribie Island Environmental Protection Association (BIEPA) to help protect one of Australia's most iconic marine species. Through our grant, we're backing vital initiatives that safeguard endangered loggerhead and green turtles along Bribie Island’s beaches.

Our support helps power:

  • Nest monitoring and protection: funding the surveillance and care of vulnerable turtle nests on Bribie’s remote northern shores, ensuring hatchlings have the best chance of survival.

  • The Tread Lightly App: promoting responsible beach use by helping drivers avoid sensitive nesting areas and times, which will empower locals and visitors to tread with care.

  • Community education cards: distributing pocket-sized guides that raise awareness about endangered turtles and offer simple, impactful ways the community can help.

  • The Giant Turtle season launch event: celebrating the start of marine turtle season at BIEPA’s annual Giant Turtle community event, a fun and educational day for all ages, where a giant human turtle was formed in the sand. 

Together, we're helping Bribie Island remain a safe haven for marine turtles, and inspiring a community to protect what matters.

Backing bush regeneration with Hinterland Bush Links

We're proud to support Hinterland Bush Links 'Roving Restorers' program, a passionate volunteer-led initiative restoring vital wildlife corridors across the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Their grassroots conservation work is helping native ecosystems thrive - one weed pulled and one tree planted at a time.

Our grant is helping grow impact through:

  • Weeding for ecosystem recovery: supporting hands-on events that remove invasive plant species, giving native flora the space and sunlight to regenerate naturally.

  • Tree planting for wildlife corridors: funding community planting days that reconnect fragmented habitats - creating safe passage for native animals and boosting biodiversity.

  • Ongoing site maintenance: ensuring newly restored areas are nurtured and protected, reducing competition and supporting long-term ecological health.

  • Community education and engagement: hosting workshops that empower landholders and locals with the knowledge to champion conservation on their own properties.

Together, we're helping build a greener, more connected future for the Sunshine Coast’s wildlife and communities.

Elevating wildlife rescue with Wildlife Noosa

We're proud to support Wildlife Noosa, a dedicated team of volunteers providing urgent care and rescue for ill, injured, and at-risk animals across the greater Noosa region. With over 1,500 rescues last year alone, their impact is both vital and inspiring.

Our grant is helping bring innovation to the wild through:

  • Advanced drone technology: funding the purchase of waterproof drones to enhance wildlife monitoring and rescue operations, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

  • Volunteer training and safety: supporting hands-on training for Wildlife Noosa’s volunteers to safely and effectively operate the new drone systems.

This cutting-edge technology is a game-changer for wildlife rescue in Noosa, helping volunteers locate and assist injured animals faster and more safely.
