Holiday hours for Reception Counters and Laboratory

Monday 18 December: Open (BOD and Legionella testing requests not available)

Tuesday 19 December and Wednesday 20 December: Open (BOD, Pseudomonas and Legionella testing requests not available). Samples must be received by midday.

Thursday 21 December - Monday 1 January: Reception counters and laboratory closed. No samples accepted.

Tuesday 2 January: Open. Normal business resumes. 

It's very important to collect your samples correctly using the sampling kits we provide.

In order to ensure the scientific tests are valid, our laboratory does not accept samples that have been collected in the wrong containers.

We will provide you with a sample kit containing sample bottles and sampling instructions once you have selected and paid for the testing you require. 

Please follow the steps below to prepare and submit your samples correctly:

Step 1: Use the correct sampling kit

PICK UP SAMPLE BOTTLES:

Reception counter: 6-10 Maud Street, Maroochydore (8:30am - 4:30pm, Mon to Fri, excluding public holidays)

Reception counter: 33 King Street, Caboolture (8:30am - 4:30pm, Mon to Fri, excluding public holidays)

Laboratory: 600 Market Drive, Morayfield (8:00am - 3.00pm, Mon to Fri, excluding public holidays)

POST SAMPLE BOTTLES:

  • Have the sampling kit posted to you for $10.34. Make sure that you request postage at the bottom of page one on your application form. 

Please note:  We do not accept samples that have been collected in the wrong containers.

Step 2: Follow the sampling procedures

  1. Follow the sampling instructions provided.
  2. Collect the sample on the correct day (detailed on the Water Testing application form).
  3. Samples must be delivered to the lab as soon as possible (within 12 hours) of collection on the days that are acceptable for sample delivery.
  4. Collect the sample in the sample bottles provided.
  5. Label the sample bottles with: 
    1. your name
    2. your address
    3. the date the sample is collected
    4. the time the sample is collected
  6. Place the sample bottles and a copy of your Application for Water Testing Form in the zip lock plastic bag.
  7. Keep the samples chilled during transportation to the drop off location (ideally between 2-6°C). You may use a portable refrigerator or an esky with ice-bricks or an esky with crushed ice. Do not freeze the samples.

Step 3: Submit your sample

1. Deliver the sample as soon as possible following collection to:

  • Laboratory: 600 Market Drive, Morayfield (8:30am - 3:00pm, Mon to Thur, excluding public holidays)
  • Reception counter: 6-10 Maud Street, Maroochydore (8:30am - 12:00pm, Mon to Thur, excluding public holidays)

2. Acceptable sample delivery days will depend on the water test/s you have applied for. The following table provides an overview of the sample drop-off days for the various water test packages.

Please note: Samples requiring processing out of normal working hours will incur additional fees which must be authorised prior to sample analysis commencing.

Step 4: Test reports

Test reports are typically issued within five business days, by email or Australia Post.

  • Reports will be emailed to you in PDF and Excel CSV formats.
  • For a quicker turn-around-time, please email the laboratory before you collect your samples to check if this option is available. Additional charges may apply.
